Un beau cadeau de Noël pour le Saint-Esprit.

Nuno Espírito Santo fait son retour en Premier League sur le banc de Nottingham Forest. Après son passage en Arabie saoudite, l’entraîneur portugais prend la place de Steve Cooper, limogé ce mardi. Nuno Espírito Santo aura attendu un peu plus d’un mois avant de retrouver un poste, son bail avec Al-Ittihad s’étant arrêté le 7 novembre. Nottingham Forest et Nuno Espírito Santo se sont entendus sur un contrat jusqu’en juin 2026.

La mission s’annonce toutefois compliquée pour le Portugais, puisque Forest est dix-septième, avec cinq points d’avance sur Luton, le premier relégable. La mauvaise série en cours (8 points lors des 13 dernières journées de Premier League) avait eu raison du Gallois, Steve Cooper. Dans un communiqué du club, le propriétaire de Nottingham Forest, Evangelos Marinakis, a « remercié Steve Cooper, au nom de tout le club, pour avoir fait monter Forest en Premier League ».
