Claudio Pizarro ne jouera pas une neuvième saison sous le maillot du Werder Brême. Après une année moyenne où il a inscrit un but en dix-neuf matchs de championnat, son club a décidé de ne pas lui offrir de prolongation de contrat.

Arrivé en Allemagne en 1999, l’international péruvien a débuté dix-sept saisons de Bundesliga avec le Bayern Munich et le Werder Brême. Ses performances lui ont permis de remporter à six reprises le titre de champion d’Allemagne.
