Aston Villa débarque Steven Gerrard

La défaite de trop.

Steven Gerrard n’a pas résisté à la claque prise par Aston Villa ce jeudi à Fulham (3-0). Le club de Birmingham a officialisé le limogeage de son coach dans la foulée de ce sixième revers en onze journées de Premier League. Avec seulement neuf points, les Villans pointent à la 17e place du championnat. Gerrard sera resté moins d’un an sur ce banc puisqu’il avait été nommé en novembre 2021, après une belle histoire chez les Rangers. Villa est le cinquième club de PL à changer d’entraîneur cette saison après Bournemouth, Chelsea, Brighton (qui s’est fait piquer Graham Potter par les Blues) et Wolverhampton.

Au moins, Stevie aura tenu plus longtemps que Liz Truss.
